Up

I finally saw Up today (its only just been released in the UK, we always get Pixar films incredibly late for some stupid reason), and in 3D no less. Which, if I'm being perfectly honest, didn't feel worth the extra £2, very few of the film felt any different than watching a Pixar film normally. I was expecting things to feel much more like they were right in front of me than it did. The most impressive bit of 3D of the whole film I'd have to say was the Walt Disney Pictures castle logo at the beginning.

Also, where was the short at the beginning? I was GUTTED. I love watching the Pixar shorts at the beginning of the film, its part of the whole Pixar cinema experience for me. I was especially disappointed as apparently Partly Cloudy is shown at some cinemas. Just not ours, obviously.

I have to join in with what everyone else has been saying, and that the film suprised me, I didn't expect it to be so sentimental. I'd read very little of what the film is about as is my way (to avoid spoilers), so didn't really know much of what to expect. But from the previews it hadn't particularly excited me, and it was better than I expected (as I knew it would be, Pixar can do no wrong (so far...))

The only thing that really bothered me about the film was at the very beginning, after Carl lifts his house up with the balloons and you see it flying around from every angle, Russell is nowhere to be seen. Then he knocks at the door and claims to have been under the porch. Maybe American houses are incredibly different than British houses, but I don't see how that is possible? How wasn't he just left on the ground when the house went up? And how on earth did he get on the porch from under it? It just seemed really weird to me, but maybe I'm just not understanding it.

It was definately a very good film though, and I enjoyed it. It's certainly never gonna take the place as one of my favourite Pixar films, but very good none the less.

The only thing I hate about seeing animated films at the cinema is the fucking kids. I thought seeing the latest showing mid week might avoid it, sadly not.

Seeing The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus next week. I can scarcely wait, I've been waiting so damn long for this movie!

Up is probably the saddest Pixar film to date. I mean, I did like the sentimentality, but I didn't think it was as kid-friendly as the other movies. That being said, I sobbed like crazy at the part when Carl flips through his wife's scrapbook. :(

Also, I can't wait to see Imaginarium. :D

There were dogs flying airplanes and you're questioning Russel's ability to hold onto Carl's porch?

It just struck me as odd as Pixar are so meticulous with their films. And I'm used to seeing animals do human things in films so its easy to suspend disbelief for that. Kids with superhuman strength I've not seen too often.
